After reading the great reviews, my friends and I seized the day for adventure to hunt down the Alamo Springs Cafe! What a good surprise! We were greeted by a warm, welcoming staff that obviously loved their jobs! How refreshing! Big bonus was the most unexpected menu choices. One friend chose the fried shrimp basket. It arrived quickly with 1/2 dozen fat shrimp (oxymoronic) that we're delightfully crispy and flavorful. She chose the tarter sauce for dipping. It was a homemade mayo, fresh dill, onion sauce that would be great on any seafood selection!
The other two of us are hamburger fiends so for our maiden visit here, it HAD TO BE a burger. Boy, we were rewarded with a juicy, thick & perfectly charred hamburger patty served on a freshly baked jalapeño/cheese BUN. The big, juicy tomato, lettuce, pickles and mustard completed the perfection. It was a burger that got as you continued to eat.
We added a 1/2 order of freshly, hand cut French fries which were enough for the three of us! The shrimp basket alone had enough fries for three!!!
For the big finish, a dessert of restaurant made creamy buttermilk pie. Can't wait to go back on a Friday night for a ribeye steak or Sunday for Chicken Fried Steak! All of the food leaving the kitchen looked delicious. The owner came by the table to make sure everything was perfect!! Can't wait to make the trip again, perhaps, on a night to enjoy music outside on the deck! -

This place is LEGIT. It's also a certified hole in the wall - but that's what makes it awesome.
Located in the middle of nowhere. Like - we thought our GPS was taking us to a pasture far far away - middle of nowhere. This joint has been on many BEST OF lists. I can see why.
Even the appetizer we ordered (goat cheese and roasted garlic crostini) was off the hook.
The burgers were the stuff of legend. Seriously. And the service was amazing. It was small and packed - but our waitress was sweet as pie and not frazzled one bit.
Bonus tip - get your tickets to see the bats at tunnel state park next door and come for dinner around 5:30. You'll beat the crowd, have time for a leisurely dinner and be back for the bat presentation. #winning -

What a delight. If you ever find yourself frolicking around Fredericksburg I highly recommend stopping by this place.
Also I imagine it would be a great place to go if you've been on the nearby wine trail and have the drunk munchies.
Really a win win regardless of the circumstances.
We stopped by to visit friends in Fredericksburg and had lunch at this gem. It's very Texas, quite old school, and I totally dig it.
The service was great and everyone made us feel at home, and the food was on point. We had the fried pickles, fried avocado, and the famous burger which is as good as everyone says it is.
Honestly the environment is just joyful, you walk in and immediately feel at home and it just gets better from there. -

We drive an hour from San Antonio to enjoy some of the best burgers and rings in Texas. Few compare and the experience and ambiance is perfect especially at night on the patio. Yes, it is worth the drive. Get there early and see one of the largest bat colonies leave a tunnel just down the road.

What an amazing find! On the advice of a local couple we met while wine tasting at one of several wineries in Fredericksburg, we decided to search out this burger nirvana! I'm so glad we did as it was a beautiful drive from Luckenbach! It's a small place, with options for dining inside or outside on one of two patio areas. Luckily we got seated at the last table and by the window. The drinks are on the honor system. You are advised to get your own beer, wine or soft drinks upon be seated. Great selection of local beers too!
We both ordered cheeseburgers with American cheese . I ordered mine on the jalapeño cheese bun while my hubs went traditional! As we waited, a basket of the best homemade potato chips were happily munched on. Burgers arrived in 20 minutes and OMG they were huge! I do not recommend the jalapeño bun as it didn't hold up to the juicy burger and all it's condiments . I ended up needing a knife and fork but I'm not complaining. One of the best burgers I've ever had! No wonder they made top five burgers in the Texas monthly magazine! Do not skip the onion rings! Crispy and thick... great breading that didn't slide off! When in Fredericksburg... take a drive away from the crowd and get one of the best burgers you'll ever have! Our server was fast, efficient and charming! We will be back!
